S.P. Balasubrahmanyam was a famous Indian playback singer. He was born on 4 June 1946 in Nellore, Madras Presidency, British India. He was the son of S.P. Sambamurthy and Sakunthalamma. He was married to Savithri. He has a daughter is Pallavi and has a son S.P.B. Charan.

He recorded his first Tamil song “Athaanodu Ippadi Irundhu Eththanai Naalaachu”. n 1970 he also worked with M. S. Viswanathan in Tamil movies for actors such as M. G. Ramachandran.

He was awarded many awards like Civilian Honours In 2001, the “Padma Shri”, In 2011, the “Padma Bhushan”, and In 2021, the “Padma Vibhushan” by The Government of India.

 Balasubrahmanyam was awarded many more awards. He died on 5 August 2020 tested positive for COVID-19 during the COVID-19 pandemic in India and was admitted to MGM Healthcare in Chennai.
