Amy Virk, also known as Amaninderpal Singh Virk, is an actor, singer and producer who has been in the entertainment industry for over 9 years. Amy made her acting debut five years ago with the film English where she shared the screen with several other actors. Did you know that Amy Virk’s first film was shot in just 40 days? English is a historical romance film in which social inequality separates two lovers. The film revolves around the title character who falls in love with a girl who has a higher social status than him. As the plot of the film unfolds, it is revealed that the Englishman does everything to win back his beloved with the help of his female friend Dhan.
Later, the Englishman realizes that, in fact, he has stronger feelings for money. Dhan also avenged his love but never expected anything in return. At the end of the film, it is revealed that the Englishman understands his true feelings and confesses his love for money. Dhan’s father rejects the English at first, but later becomes convinced of the pure character of the English. Dhan and English got married.
The film was nominated for 22 awards at the PTC Punjabi Film Awards and won a total of 10 awards. The Englishman won the Filmfare Award, Best Director Award, Best Actor Award and Best Actress Award. Amy Virk won the Best Debut Male Award for the film and was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for the film.
