Born in 1957, Labh Janjua had been a famous songwriter and Indian bhangra singer. He was very popular for his hip-hop and bhangra songs, some of which are “Goli Jatt Ne Katcheri’ch Chaloni “, “Jatt Marda”, “Bair Bura Hunda Jatt da”, “Jatt Di Nazar Buri”, “Soni De Nakhre Sone lagde” (movie Partner) and “Mundian To Bach Ke”. He has been the vocalist for many Bollywood songs such as “Jee Karda” in the film Singh is King (2008), and “London Thumakda” in the movie Queen (2014) these songs were very popular among the masses.

Early life and education

Janjua belonged to a Sikh family. The story of his learning music is very unique. With his grandfather, He used to attend Kirtans where he learned the music. So we can say Kirtan is the cause of his learning music. He bagged many prizes while singing in School and college. He graduated from Mata Gujri College, Fatehgarh Sahib.

He was born and grew up in his village Majra, Khanna in the Ludhiana district of Punjab, India. He has been a resident of both Mumbai and Khanna city, and he also took his musical training from a well-known local music teacher, the late Shri Jaswant Bhanwra.

 

Career

He made his mark to fame in 1999, when he sang songs for “Mundian To Bach Ke” produced by Punjab MC and it became widely hit. He got his first Bollywood break with the movie Hattrick in 2007. After that he never stopped and sang for a number of movies including Jai Ho, Dev.D, Singh Is Kinng, Garam Masala, Dhol, Krazzy 4, and Singh Is Bliing.

On 22 October 2015, he died at his residence in Bangur Nagar, Goregaon, Mumbai. The cause of his death is unknown but he had been suffering from Diabetes for a long time.
