Ravindra Jain was such a musician of Hindi cinema who understood the world with the eyes of his mind. Through the seven suras of the sargam, he returned many times more to his listeners than he got from the society. Apart from being the creator of melodious tunes, he was also a singer and he also surprised everyone by composing improvisation of most of the songs. After Manna Dey’s blind uncle Krishnachandra Dey, Ravindra Jain was the second person who created such a history in the audio-visual medium with the help of only audio, which has become exemplary for the younger generation.
Ravindra Jain was born in Aligarh on February 28, 1944, in the house of father Pandit Indramani Jain and mother Kiran Devi Jain. He was fourth among his seven brothers and one sister. His eyes were closed since birth, which was opened by his father’s friend Dr. Mohanlal through surgery. At the same time, it is also said that there is light in the eyes of the child, which can increase gradually, but do not let it do any work that puts stress on the eyes. The father chose the path of music keeping in mind the advice of the doctor, in which the eyes are less used. Ravindra tried his best to understand everything with the eyes of his mind, obeying the orders of his father and brother. Listened to many novels by requesting elder brother. Understand the meaning of poems. From the biographies of men, religious texts and history understood the meaning of life. Since childhood, Rabindra, with a sharp intellect, would memorize the thing he heard once, which he would always remember.
His childhood was spent in the religion, philosophy and spiritual atmosphere of the family. Going to the temple every day and singing a hymn there had made it his routine. In return, father used to give a reward of one rupee for singing a hymn. With the help of these two powers, Jain society and Aligarh, the dark life of Rabindra became lit up. Rabindra may have been blind, but he did more mischief in his childhood than the sighted ones. The family rule was to step into the house and have a meal before the sun sets. Rabindra never followed this rule. He used to come home late at night every day. Mother saved from father’s stick. She would hide food under the bed in her room, so that the child would not go hungry. The generosity of mother’s love later became such a force in the life of Rabindra, on the basis of which he saved the lives of his companions.
Ravindra, along with his friend circle, used to make a song-playing team and hover around the Aligarh railway station. His friend had a small tin box, on which he used to sing and entertain every visitor. One day I did not know what I thought that the box was straightened. Seeing his open mouth, the audience started pouring money into it. The box was filled with chiller. After coming home, he threw it at the feet of his mother. When father saw this, he became red-yellow with anger and ordered to return all the money.
Now the problem came that how to get the money back after searching strangers? Friends made a plan to go to the chaat shop and eat chaat-dumplings and enjoy.

रवींद्र जैन हिंदी सिनेमा के ऐसे संगीतकार थे जिन्होंने दुनिया को अपने मन की आंखों से समझा। सरगम के सात सुरों के माध्यम से, वह अपने श्रोताओं को समाज से मिलने वाले से कई गुना अधिक लौटाता था। मधुर धुनों के रचयिता होने के साथ-साथ वे एक गायक भी थे और उन्होंने अधिकांश गीतों की रचना कर सबको चकित भी कर दिया था। मन्ना डे के अंधे चाचा कृष्णचंद्र डे के बाद रवींद्र जैन दूसरे ऐसे शख्स थे जिन्होंने सिर्फ ऑडियो के सहारे ऑडियो-विजुअल माध्यम में ऐसा इतिहास रचा, जो युवा पीढ़ी के लिए अनुकरणीय बन गया है.
रवींद्र जैन का जन्म अलीगढ़ में 28 फरवरी 1944 को पिता पंडित इंद्रमणि जैन और माता किरण देवी जैन के घर हुआ था। वह अपने सात भाइयों और एक बहन में चौथे स्थान पर था। उनकी आंखें जन्म से ही बंद थीं, जिन्हें उनके पिता के दोस्त डॉ. मोहनलाल ने सर्जरी के जरिए खोला था। साथ ही यह भी कहा जाता है कि बच्चे की आंखों में रोशनी होती है, जो धीरे-धीरे बढ़ सकती है, लेकिन उसे ऐसा कोई भी काम न करने दें जिससे आंखों पर दबाव पड़े। पिता ने डॉक्टर की सलाह को ध्यान में रखते हुए संगीत का रास्ता चुना, जिसमें आंखों का कम इस्तेमाल होता है। रवींद्र ने अपने पिता और भाई की आज्ञा का पालन करते हुए अपने मन की आँखों से सब कुछ समझने की पूरी कोशिश की। बड़े भाई से विनती करके कई उपन्यास सुने। कविताओं के अर्थ को समझें। मनुष्य की आत्मकथाओं से धार्मिक ग्रंथों और इतिहास ने जीवन का अर्थ समझा। रवीन्द्र बचपन से ही तेज बुद्धि के साथ एक बार सुनी हुई बात को याद कर लेते थे, जो उन्हें हमेशा याद रहती थी।
उनका बचपन परिवार के धर्म, दर्शन और आध्यात्मिक वातावरण में बीता। रोज मंदिर जाना और वहां भजन गाना उनकी दिनचर्या बन गई थी। बदले में, पिता भजन गाने के लिए एक रुपये का इनाम देते थे। इन दो शक्तियों जैन समाज और अलीगढ़ की सहायता से रवीन्द्र का अंधकारमय जीवन प्रकाशित हुआ। रवींद्र भले ही अंधे थे, लेकिन उन्होंने बचपन में दृष्टि वालों से ज्यादा शरारतें कीं। परिवार का नियम था कि घर में कदम रखें और सूर्यास्त से पहले भोजन करें। रवीन्द्र ने कभी इस नियम का पालन नहीं किया। वह रोज देर रात घर आता था। पिता की लाठी से बचाई मां। वह अपने कमरे में बिस्तर के नीचे खाना छिपा देती थी, ताकि बच्चा भूखा न रहे। माँ की ममता की दरियादिली आगे चलकर रवीन्द्र के जीवन में ऐसी शक्ति बनी, जिसके बल पर उन्होंने अपने साथियों की जान बचाई।
रवींद्र, अपने मित्र मंडली के साथ, एक गाना बजाने वाली टीम बनाकर अलीगढ़ रेलवे स्टेशन के चारों ओर मंडराता था। उनके दोस्त के पास टिन का एक छोटा बक्सा था, जिस पर वह गाते थे और हर आने-जाने वाले का मनोरंजन करते थे। एक दिन मुझे नहीं पता था कि मैंने क्या सोचा था कि बॉक्स सीधा हो गया था। उनका खुला मुंह देखकर दर्शकों ने उसमें पैसे बरसाना शुरू कर दिए। डिब्बा चिलर से भरा हुआ था। घर आकर उसने उसे अपनी मां के चरणों में फेंक दिया। पिता ने यह देखा तो क्रोध से लाल-पीला हो गया और सारे पैसे वापस करने का आदेश दिया।
अब समस्या आई कि अजनबियों को ढूंढ़कर पैसे वापस कैसे पाएं? दोस्तों ने चाट की दुकान पर जाकर चाट-पकौड़ी खाने और मजे लेने का प्लान बनाया।
