Geeta Dutt was an Indian female playback singer. She was born on 23 July 1930 in a Zamindar family in Idilpur, Madaripur District, Bengal Presidency, British India. She was married to Guru Dutt on 26 May 1953. She was 2 sons who are Tarun (1954-1985) and Arun (1956-2014) and has a daughter Nina (1964).
In 1957, Guru Dutt released the film “Gauri” with Geeta Dutt as its singing star. In 1964, Guru Dutt died from a combination of alcohol and an overdose of sleeping pills. Geeta then suffered a serious nervous breakdown and financial problems.
She performed a leading role in a Bengali film, “Badhu Baran” in 1967 and Geeta Dutt’s final performance was for Midnight (unreleased) Two duets in 1972.
Geeta Dutt died on 20 July 1972 due to cirrhosis of the liver at the age of 41 in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
