A Mumbai court on Wednesday allowed actor Rhea Chakraborty to travel to Abu Dhabi with certain conditions, Live Law reported. He is an accused person in the drugs case registered after the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput in 2020.
The court had directed him to report to the nearest police station every ten days. The judges also barred him from leaving the country without the court’s permission and asked him to submit his passport to the investigating agency, the Narcotics Control Bureau. The actor had filed a petition seeking permission to travel to Abu Dhabi to attend an award ceremony.
On Wednesday, Special Judge AA Joglekar allowed Chakraborty to collect his passport from the Narcotics Control Bureau and travel to Abu Dhabi between June 2 and June 5, PTI reported.
The court directed the actor to make an appearance at the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi, submit his itinerary to the Narcotics Control Bureau and hand over his passport to the central agency after returning.
According to PTI, he has also been directed to deposit a cash surety of Rs one lakh in the court.
Chakraborty has been accused of buying drugs for Rajput, who was found dead at his apartment in Mumbai on June 14, 2020. Mumbai Police said the death was a case of suicide.
