Sonu Kakkar is an Indian playback singer. She was born on 20 October 1979 in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, India. She is the daughter of Rishikesh Kakkar and Niti Kakkar. She has a brother is Tony Kakkar (Singer and Music Composer) and has a sister is Neha Kakkar (Singer). She was married to Neeraj Sharma in 2006. Her favorite singers are Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Ghulam Ali Khan, and Lata Mangeshkar.
Sonu developed an interest in music at a very young age. She started singing Bhajans in Jagarns at the age of 5. She participated in channel V’s singing reality show “Indian Pop Star”. She started her singing career with the song “Babu Ji Jara Dhire Chalo” from the film ‘Dum’ in 2003. She is the first person from her family to pursue music as a career.
