K.S. Chitra is the most popular Indian playback singer. She was born on 27 July 1963 in Trivandrum, Kerala, India. She is the daughter of Krishnan Nair’ She has a younger brother K. Mahesh (Playback Singer) and She has an elder sister K. S. Beena.
Chitra has completed a master’s degree in music. She has recorded over 25,000 songs in many languages like Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Hindi, Odia, Bengali, Punjabi, Gujarati, Tulu, Rajasthani, Urdu, Sanskrit, Badaga, Marathi, Malay, Latin, Arabic, Sinhalese, English, and French.
Chitra was awarded 6 “National Film Awards”, and 8 “Filmfare Awards”. In 2001, She was awarded the “MTV Video Music Award” for International Viewer’s Choice.
