Hemanta Kumar was the most famous Indian singer. He was born on 16 June 1920 in Benares, Benares State, British India. He has 2 brothers who are Tarajyoti (Short-story writer) and Amal Mukherjee (Music composer) and has a sister Nilima. He was married to Bela Mukherjee (Singer) but she died on 25 June 2009. He has a son Jayant and has a daughter is Rano Mukhopadhyay.
In 1940, Hemanta’s first film song released was in the Bengali film Rajkumarer Nirbbasan and his first Hindi songs also released were “Kitana Dukh Bhulaya Tumne” and “O Preet Nibhanewali”.
