Farida Khanum is a Pakistani singer. He was born in 1929 in Calcutta, Undivided India. She has five daughters and one son.
She started learning music from Ustad Ashiq Ali Khan. In 1947, her family moved to Pakistan after the partition of India. In 1950, She sang her first public concerts at a very low age of 21 and then joined “Pakistan Radio”. She became a star when Pakistan’s president Ayub Khan invited her to a public recital. Farida is famous by the name of the “Queen of Ghazals” in Pakistan.
In 1970, She was awarded “Pride of Performance” by the President of Pakistan. In 2005, She was awarded “Hilal-i-Imtiaz” by the president of Pakistan.
