Shweta Mohan was born on 19 November 1985, as an Indian playback vocalist. She has acquired four Filmfare Awards South for Best Female Playback Singer, one Kerala State Film Award, and one Tamil Nadu State Film Award. She has videoed more than 700 songs for movie music and albums in all 4 South Indian tongues namely Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada in addition to Hindi movies, and has affirmed herself as a leading playback vocalist in South Indian films.

Shweta Mohan was born on 19 November 1985 to a Malayali household in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. She is the daughter of Krishna Mohan and playback vocalist Sujatha Mohan. She finished schooling at Good Shepherd Convent, Chennai, and graduated from Stella Maris College, Chennai. She is wedded to her long-time friend, Ashwin Shashi. They have a daughter called Sresta Ashwin, who was born in 2017.

Shweta began her internship in Carnatic piece at the age of 9 from Ramamoorthy Rao. Partaking in cultural occasions and contests slowly pulled her nearer to music. She regards herself very lucky to have done her first couple of recordings as a child artiste with none other than the Mozart of Madras, AR Rahman, for the choir of the songs ‘Kuchi kuchi rakkamma’ (Bombay) and ‘Accham accham illai’ (Indira). Shweta has sung for theme directors in India like A. R. Rahman, Vidyasagar, Ilayaraja, M M Keeravani, M. Jayachandran, Sharreth, Ousepachan, Johnson, Deepak Dev, Yuvan Shankar Raja, V. Harikrishna, G. V. Prakash, Harris Jayaraj, Mani Sharma, Kannan, N. R. Raghunathan, Manikanth Kadri, Devi Sri Prasad and Anirudh Ravichander. She has sung many famous and popular movie songs, including Enna Solla (Thangamagan) and Nee Koorinaal. Shweta is living trained in Carnatic classical vocal nowaday sunder Smt. Binni Krishnakumar is also a playback vocalist.
