Anand Bakshi was a famous Indian poet. He was born on 21 July 1930 in Rawalpindi, Punjab, Pakistan. He was married to Kamla Mohan Bakshi. He had two sons who are Rajesh Bakshi and Rakesh Bakshi and had two daughters who are Suman Datt and Kavita Bali.
His first song in this film was “Dharti Ke Laal Na Kar Itna Malaal”. In 1962, he first found success with “Mehendi Lagi Mere Haath”.
He was 40 times nominated and 4 times awarded the “Filmfare Award” for Best Lyricist. He wrote lyrics in many movies like Bobby, Amar Prem in 1971, Aradhana in 1969, Jeene Ki Raah, Mera Gaon Mera Desh, Aaye Din Bahar Ke, Aya Sawan Jhoom Ke, Seeta Aur Geeta, Sholay in 1975, Dharam Veer, Nagina, Lamhe, Hum in 1991, Mohra in 1994, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge in 1995, Pardes in 1997, Heer Raanjha, Dushman in 1998, Taal in 1998, Mohabbatein in 2000, Gadar: Ek Prem Katha in 2001, and Yaadein in 2001.
He died on 30 March 2002 during minor heart surgery in Nanavati Hospital, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.
