Birju Maharaj is an Indian singer. He was born on 4 February 1938 in Lucknow, India. He is the son of Acchan Maharaj and Amma Ji Maharaj. He has 2 sons who are Jaikishan Maharaj and Deepak Maharaj and has 3 daughters Kavita Maharaj, Anita Maharaj, and Mamta Maharaj.
Birju gave his first performance at the age of 7. His father died when he was 9 years old. He started teaching Kathak at the age of 13. He choreographed many Bollywood songs like “Kaahe Chhed Mohe” from the film “Devdas”, “Deewani” from the film “Bajirao Mastani”, “Dedh Ishqiya”, and “Umrao Jaan”.
