Hasrat Jaipuri was born as Iqbal Hussain. Hasrat was an Indian Lyricist. He was born on 15 April 1922 in Jaipur, India. He had a sister Kausar Jahan. He has 2 sons who are Akhtar Hasrat Jaipuri and Asif Hasrat Jaipuri and a daughter is Kishwar Jaipuri.
When he was around twenty years old. he fell in love with a neighborhood girl named Radha. Jaipuri wrote his first recorded song “Jiya Beqaraar Hai” for the film. His second song was “Chhor Gaye Baalam”. He had written lyrics for all Raj Kapoor films till 1971.
He was awarded the “Filmfare Best Lyricist Award” in 1972 for ‘Zindagi Ek Safar Hai Suhana’ and in 1966 for the song ‘Baharo Phool Barsao’, the “Josh Malihabadi Award” from Urdu Conference, and the “Dr. Ambedkar Award” for Jhanak Jhanak Tori Baaje Payaliya. Jaipuri was also awarded a doctorate degree from the World University Round Table.
He died on 17 September 1999 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.
