R.D. Burman was the most famous Indian music director. He was born on 27 June 1939 in a music-rich family in Calcutta (Now as Kolkata), Bengal Presidency, India. He had the son of Sachdev Burman (Music Director) and Meera Dev Burman (Lyricist). He was married to his First Wife Rita Patel in 1966 and he was again married to his second wife Asha Bhosle in 1979. R.D. has 2 Stepsons Hemant Bhosle, Anand Bhosle, and his stepdaughter is Varsha Bhosle.
Burman has favorite singers are Kishore Kumar and Mohammad Rafi.
In 1956, He was 9 years old when he composed his first song of life. The song he composed the first time is “Aye Meri Topi Palat Ke Aa” for the movie of “Funtoosh”.
In 1957, He was composed a song “Sar Jo Tera Chakraye” for the movie of “Pyaasa”. He started assisting his father on films such as “Kagaaz Ke Phool” in 1957, “Solva Saal” in 1958, and “Chalti Ka Naam Gaddi” in 1958.
In 1955, He was awarded the “Filmfare Award for Best Music Director” for “1942: A Love Story”. In 1983, He was awarded the “Filmfare Award for Best Music Director” for “Sanam Teri Kasam”. In 1984, He was awarded the “Filmfare Award for Best Music Director” for “Masoom”.

He died on 4 January 1994 in Bombay, Maharashtra.
